3D Logos: Depth That Jumps Off the Screen
Build 3D logos with bevels and soft shadows for gaming, tech, and bold startups.
When depth helps your brand
3D logos add bevels 6 to 12 pixels deep plus 1 soft shadow for instant volume. Gaming studios and tech startups use them because depth boosts playfulness by about 35 percent. Rendered marks shine in video intros and app splash screens.
Start with a bold shape at least 200 pixels wide so bevels have room. When generating the logo online, compare flat and 3D versions at 128 pixels. Pick depth only if edges stay crisp and colors stay clean.
Keeping 3D logos usable
Use 1 light source from the top left at 45 degrees for consistent shading. Limit materials to 2 finishes such as matte plus gloss to avoid plastic overload. Keep text extruded under 20 pixels so letters stay readable.
Always export a flat 1 color version for documents, embroidery, and small favicons. Shadows should stay under 30 percent opacity and 15 pixel blur. Test the mark on 4 backgrounds: white, black, photo, and gradient.
