Letterhead logo placement that looks pro

Top-left rule that works

Letterhead pages use 8 dot 5 by 11 inches with 1 inch top and 0 dot 75 inch side margins. Logos at 1 dot 5 inches wide and 0 dot 75 inches tall leave room for addresses in 10 point type.

Print at 300 dpi so 2550 pixels wide pages stay crisp for 10 year archives. If you make your logo online, choose a horizontal lockup under 600 pixels wide and test printing on laser and inkjet.

Margins and color that impress

Align logos to left margins and match footer text in 8 point gray for balance. Color bars under 0 dot 25 inches thick add style without wasting 30 percent extra ink on 500 sheet runs.

Save PDF masters under 5 megabytes with embedded fonts for vendors and courts. Keep Word headers at 200 pixels wide and review alignment every 24 months to fix shifts from software updates.
